Academy Fitness C.I.C. and CrossFit Galleon have partnered to bring you ‘The Hurt Locker – Winter Throwdown 2019’.  The event will take place on the weekend, January 26th-27th. The competition will be a well rounded test of all elements of fitness.

  • A competition to cater for all levels with Scaled, RXD, Junior and Masters categories.
  • Indoor, Same Sax Pairs Events
  • Competitors take part in 7 workouts through the weekend which are scored on placings.
  • Top 4 teams from each category go through to a final.

Our event is organised and managed by a very experienced event team with experienced judges. Spectators will be asked for a donation to Charity on the door. We will have live music, food & drink stalls and many other types of sport & fitness vendors.

The Hurt Locker winter throw-down will cater for all levels of athlete with specific categories designed to best suit the athletes experience and fitness level whilst remaining competitive.

MALE RXD/ FEMALE RXD

MALE MASTERS/ FEMALE MASTERS. (combined age of 70)

MALE SCALED/ FEMALE SCALED

JUINOR 14-17 (Saturday Only)

What Category should I compete in?

RXDThe RXD category is aimed at the intermediate- advanced fitness competitor who is competent and regularly completes workouts at the RXD standard.

Minimum Movement Standards

  • Comfortably Cycle Barbell movements from the ground to overhead at 50/35KGS
  • American style kettle bell swings @24/16kg
  • Perform the following gymnastics movements unassisted, without a band. Pullups/Toes to bar
  • Competent with Olympic weightlifting movements and able to take a moderate load from the ground to overhead
  • Used to regularly performing RXD style workouts
  • This category will provide a solid challenge but still accommodate for a wide range of levels.

MastersThe masters category is will accommodate the intermediate fitness competitor team who have a combined age of 70+ There will be options to scale up or down based on varying partner abilities however the contest will remain challenging and competitive.

Minimum Movement Standards

  • Comfortably Cycle Barbell movements from the ground to overhead at 40/30KGS
  • American/Russian style kettle bell swings @24/16kg
  • Perform the following gymnastics movements unassisted or with the use of a green band without a band. Pullups/Toes to bar/ Knees to elbows
  • A reasonable level of experience with Olympic weightlifting movements

ScaledThe RXD category is aimed at the beginner level fitness competitor with limited competition experience. Loads, rep schemes and movement complexity with be achievable but still provide a solid challenge on the day.

Minimum Movement Standards

  • Comfortably Cycle Barbell movements from the ground to overhead at 35/25KGS
  • Russian style kettle bell swings @24/16kg
  • Gymnastics elements will allow the use of a Green band and regressed movement options
  • Have a baseline understanding of the clean and jerk and can perform and variation of ground to overhead
  • Used to regularly performing workouts with scaled options
  • We want this category to allow athletes to gain more experience in competitions but still provide a solid challenge!

PLEASE NOTE THE FINALS WILL SEE A SLIGHT INCREASE IN MOVEMENT COMPLEXITY AND INTENSITY!!!
